Dean Manny London led the social entrepreneurship competition of six startup teams February 15 at 7pm in SAC Lecture B.  Making ten minute pitches were Salvatore Farruggia, Long Island Social Sports; Plinio Guzman & Luis Lituma (presenter), Water Desalination; Shweta Iyer, InfraSolutions; Luisa Le Donne, Mind Control Science Lab; Ruchi Shah, Mosquitoes Be Gone; and Hassan Sheikh,  Winners were:

First Place: Ruchi Shah  Mosquitoes Be Gone $10,000,  Second Place: Sal Farruggia    Long Island Social Sports   $5,000. Funds will be used to move the ventures forward.  Judges were Jim Komosinski, Paul Ghiz, Cindy Morris, Nathalie Lilavois, Mary Pat Grafstein

Executives and Entrepreneurs were Jim Komosinski, Mike Boles, Paul Ghiz, Susan Chanadler, Cindy Morris, Susan Belli, who provided guidance, and mentoring the students.

Professor Roberta Richin's class  of 60 students in Social Entrepreneurship observed, supported, and evaluated the presentations as part of a class exercise.

The Innovation Center provided direct mentoring to three of the teams of the last several months.
