Stony Brook College of Business Innovation Center News

The entrepreneurship game, Genesis by Stephen Doering, was tested last summer in BUS 353 Entrepreneurship, has been modified this fall creating three unique parts, and will be retested this coming winter break in January in BUS 353 Entrepreneurship.

First, students listen before class to an edited lecture of the important concepts on their own time. Before this change, students listened online together, like a regular classroom.  Second, in class students meet together online and are divided up into small groups using Adobe Connect to discuss the concepts from the lecture. The instructor moves from group to group online and gives feedback to their thinking in a flipped classroom setting. Third, is the use of gaming techniques for the student entrepreneur to find information for their startup, and to meet others in a café to discuss aspects of their business plan. This gaming process is done after each online class meeting.
