SBU Biotech Center met with Mt Sinai Hospital Innovation Partners in Manhattan on September 26 to share approaches to innovation.

Mt Sinai Innovation Partners is the new tech transfer office that arranges meetings for faculty doing complimentary research that may lead to a pharmaceutical or medical device product. It also brings angel and VC investors to meetings to discuss the steps in commercialization.  Startups are flowing now.  The Partners are led by Eric Lium who came from Silicon Valley several years ago to reorganize innovation.

SBU features the Long Island High Tech Incubator for startups.  Also, the Bio Tech Center offers a Bio Tech course for startups for graduate students and faculty.  The College of Business offers consulting courses for MBA students to work with Bio Tech startups.
