The entrepreneurship game, Genesis by Stephen Doering, was tested last summer in BUS 353 Entrepreneurship, has been modified this fall creating three unique parts, and will be retested this coming winter break in January in BUS 353 Entrepreneurship.

SBU alumni pitched his fall their recent startup businesses to students in Entrepreneurship across Countries, BUS 337.  The students tested the products or services, provided feedback to the alumni entrepreneurs, and sought help with their own startup plans from the alumni.

 Chess Fit and Medical Scanner participated in the first Innovation Fair Oct 19 in the Wang Center. These were two of 20 innovations at the Faire. These two had MBA teams supporting the startups.

The prize for winning this competition is a seat at the 2016 Global Solutions Program. The program runs from June 18 to August 28, 2016 at the SU Campus, NASA Research Park in Mountain View California. Plinio, an SBU entrepreneur and engineer will be working with colleagues from around the world who represent different cultures, expertise and share a passion for solving humanity's grand challenges.

Plinio Guzman, Engineering graduate student and entrepreneur this spring tested Membrane Distillation. Environmental energy from the desert drive the desalination process of water in short supply. Plinio spent three months in th e Terkanian Basin in Kenya on a field site for research to test the water cleaning technology.          The State University of New York on 3/22 announced more than $4 million in Investment and Performance Fund awards for SUNY campuses across the state, including  Stony Brook University and the College of Business, which will receive $280,000 in Open SUNY funds to create an online MBA with a concentration in Innovation

Twelve technology startups in September challenged 60 MBAs with business plan issues.  This past week the MBA teams of five students each delivered reports to the startups.  Rich Kilbride of FSA raved about the study of mobile ordering on 64 campuses.  Brimes' Ram Maramara was enthusiastic about the analysis of four potential markets for the Jelly Fish wave electric generator.  Bonded Energy's Jerritt Gluck appreciated the refinement of

Seven projects were selected for the next stage of the Social Entrepreneurship Competition.  Science projects include Mosquito Be Gone, a nontoxic repellent by Ruchi Shah,  Clean Water, a new filter for desalination, by Plinio Guzman, Brain Control, a thought process for invalids for turning lights on or off by Luisa le Donne and Biomass for Diesel Fuel, using work from BNL.  Social Organization projects include

          Juice+ won the profit track with a startup of bringing an electronic shaker to market for mountain bikes and phones. The entrepreneur was Brandon Cox who licenses the technology from Professor Reid Phillips. H2O Jacket, won the social innovation track with a unique compartmentalized jacket that carries and purifies up to six gallons of water. The intended market was a replacement for water jugs. Judges noted that there was an outdoor market that might support the main market.
