    Nine undergraduates started a three week course July 7 in Rome on Entrepreneurship Across Countries. The course is taught by Professor Gerrit Wolf and is part of the Entrepreneurship minor and specialization for business students.

Vivaldi Analytics, high finisher in the Entrepreneurship Business Plan contest this spring, tested their analytic techniques on big data of consumer attitudes toward the offerings of  the campus food service dining facilities.

      On May 9, four Marketing researchers present papers at Symposium on Consumer Well-Being, Childs Mansion, 19 Shore Drive, Old Field, NY, 11733.
The results of their research point to new food products and their marketing.

      Startup teams of freshmen picked four big problems to turn into business opportunities this spring semester.  Working in the Innovation Center, the opportunities chosen by the teams were apps supporting healthy eating, better transportation on campus, entertainment and fun promoting local talent, and campus activity information driven by a student's interests.

      Bernie Brenner, 1990 alumnus with a BS in business, serial entrepreneur, and Exec VP of TrueCar, described and motivated his ideas on business development on April 29.  Students and faculty heard in the Wang Center how joint ventures can create a new product and provide growth for both partners. It is particularly useful strategy for a small and growing business to partner with a large Sumo.  He used TrueCar as a case.

MosquitoesBeGone founded by sophomore Ruchi Shah, won $1500 and third place in the biotech division of the NYS Business Plan Competition in Albany on April 25.  NanoTechnostics Inc. won $1000 for the People's Choice Award in the nanotechnology division.  See all the results for all the schools below.

The International Entrepreneurship Students Community
Dr. Dafna Kariv, who founded the International Entrepreneurship Students Community, led ten Israeli student entrepreneurs in a meeting with faculty in the Innovation Center on Sunday afternoon April 13. The IESC Program at the College of Management-Academic Studies in Israel fosters entrepreneurship across the disciplines and countries.

Over 20 undergraduate entrepreneurship students from business classes and engineering classes met Mark Lesko and Mike McIntyre from Accelerate Long Island and Burke Liburt from the Center.  Groups of students learned from the business leaders how startups are developed.  Some students talked about their startups. Conversation was informal and many questions were asked and discussed.  Students enjoyed pizza and looked forward to the next event April 22 at 4pm.
